BLINN BOARD CHAIR RELEASES STATMENT ON TRANSITION

Sunday afternoon. Douglas Borchardt, Chair of the Blinn Board of Trustees, released this statement on President Dr. Harold Nolte's retirement:

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Harold E. Nolte for his service to Blinn College and our entire service area. We value the contributions he has made during his tenure and wish him and his family the very best in all their future endeavors.

Dr. Nolte has served in various roles during his 35 year of service in Texas higher education rising to the rank of president of Blinn College. His leadership and contributions should be noted as we prepare for the reaffirmation of our accreditation. His commitment to address and ensure a safer environment for students, faculty and staff, and the development of articulation and transfer agreements with the state’s top universities will continue to make a positive impact on Blinn College students for years to come.

The Board of Trustees has scheduled a meeting for Monday, September 29, 2014 to formally accept Dr. Nolte’s resignation effective Jan. 31, 2015 and acknowledge his years of service. The Board will also deliberate on a leadership transition plan that will include a national search for our next president.  We have full confidence in our administrative team that they will work collaboratively with our faculty, staff and students to continue to move forward with a successful semester.

We look forward to keeping the entire Blinn College community informed as the board initiates plans for a national search for our next president. We will design a process that will be inclusive, transparent and provide opportunity for input from all who value Blinn College and our students.
