BLINN BOARD GETS UPDATE ON NEW CONSTRUCTION/UPDATES ON BLINN CAMPUSES

  

An update on the construction of a new Blinn-Bryan bookstore and a new campus master plan were presented to the Blinn Board of Trustees on Tuesday night.

The Bryan Campus 2015 Master plan meeting was held on June 8th, and the project is now underway.

The Bryan Campus Traffic Impact Analysis Plan has the College hiring HDR Engineering for the project. The college met with the city of Bryan engineering master plan team. The short term phase addresses needs on the existing Villa Maria Campus.

The Bryan Bookstore phase has been delayed until after the fall semester begins due to moisture issues related to the flooring at the bookstore.

The Administration Building Renovation on the Bryan campus is under construction, with an approved construction budget of $4, 800,000.

The Red River extension is in the early design phase for bidding this fall.

The Central Administration Relocation project is complete and fully operational.

The planning on the Brenham campus includes the Saeger Street Extension, which is actually a City of Brenham project, but the alignment and construction schedule have an immediate impact on the College.

The Holleman Hall project is under construction, and additional housing needs are being assessed. The project is scheduled for completion on August 1st.

The food service and dining area at the Student Center is in need of an upgrade. The project is in the discussion stages on the administrative level. Once the plans for the Bryan Campus food service are formalized, a decision will be made on moving forward on the Brenham Campus.

Utility Extensions will be considered simultaneously with the planning and design of the Kruse Center. The Kruse Recreation Center will be ready for bidding on August 20th.

The Construction Manager At Risk for the Indoor Training Facility is scheduled to begin soon upon selection of a contractor, The tennis court site adjacent to Solons Hall is the location being considered for the placement of this facility. Once the design and construction team is complete, the final determination will be made.

The P.E. Building Gum Floor project complete, and the Handicap Accessibility Project is under construction and scheduled for completion in August.
