BLINN BOARD MOVES FORWARD WITH THREE BRYAN CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

The Blinn College Board of Trustees authorized the College to negotiate professional services agreements for three Bryan campus improvement projects Tuesday during its regular meeting.

The board authorized administrators to negotiate an agreement with Bleyl & Associates for the design of an extension to Red River Road on the College’s Bryan campus.

The Red River Drive extension would provide enhanced mobility for campus students, faculty, staff and visitors. As currently constructed, the campus is entrance-only at the Red River intersection; the proposed construction would create a full-purpose intersection allowing vehicles to exit the campus onto Villa Maria Road. The extension would be funded via Revenue Bonds Series 2014, with an estimated cost of $1 million.

In other business, the board authorized the administration to negotiate a professional services agreement with Arkitex Studio for the design of landscaping improvements on the Bryan campus. These improvements would include the campus space adjacent to the Administration Building, berms on the south perimeter of the campus and two campus quads.

The board also authorized the administration to seek bids or proposals for the furniture, fixtures, audio/visual equipment, technology, food service, security, laboratory equipment, building commissioning, signage, graphics, utility extensions, installation, professional fees and related soft costs associated with the new campus to be located at 851 N. Harvey Mitchell Parkway in Bryan.
