BLINN BOARD READY TO SET TUITION FOR NEXT YEAR

Student tuitions at Blinn College will probably stay the same for the upcoming school year, but fees are probably going to rise.

Blinn College External Director Cathy Boeker says this is the time of the year for the Blinn Board of Trustees to set the tuition for the next school year and they are expected to do that when they meet Tuesday night on the Brenham campus.

Boeker says the fee increase will mean a student taking 12 credit hours will pay about $84 which she year.  this will hit students a lot less than a tuition hike.

Boeker says the Blinn Board is also moving forward on the construction for the Kruse Recreation Center, near the Leroy Dreyer Baseball field on the Brenham campus.

The five children of E.F. and Bertha Kruse made a $10 million donation for the center in June of last year.   Boeker says this recreation center will be student oriented.

Collier Construction is in line to be the construction manager at risk/

Boeker says the new recreation center could be open as early as fall o 2015.  She says it is mostly for the benefit of the students.

The Blinn Board of Trustees meet Tuesday evening at 6:30 at the Administrative Building on the Brenham campus.
