BLINN COLLEGE BEGINS PROCESS OF HIRING NEW PRESIDENT

The Blinn College Board of trustees Tuesday night began the process of hiring a new president.

The board authorized the college to seek and award a request for proposals (RFP) for an executive search firm to assist the board in its search for a new president.

Dr. Harold Nolte has announced that he will step down January 31, 2015. He has been district president since 2011, and had announced on September 26 that he would retire.

The firm hired to assist in the search will be responsible for setting a timetable and assist with recruiting qualified and diverse applicants. Upon naming a search firm, Blinn will narrow down its candidate profile, and then advertise the position before identifying candidates.

In other news, Dr. Cynthia Griffith, vice president for instruction for technical and workforce education, presented an overview to board concerning the College’s technical and workforce education offerings, which including some Associate of Applied Science degree programs and associated certificate awards. Griffith also outlined the division’s long-term goals, including targeted offering of open enrollment, continuing education courses, active promotion of Blinn’s customized corporate training, and the creation of new scholarships for workforce students.
