Blinn College President Mary Hensley testified today (Thursday) before the Texas House committee on Higher Education in Austin.

In today’s (Thursday) meeting, the committee discussed “taxing districts, service areas, and any barriers to access”. The committee was formed to take a closer look at the structure of community college programs to insure that multi-campus districts distribute funds fairly and equitably and review their accounting and reporting requirements.

State representative, John Raney is a member of the committee. Raney targeted Blinn College in a bill designed to allocate more money for their Brazos County campus. His bill was soundly defeated in the state house.

Blinn is currently developing plans for a second Bryan campus to serve some 10-15 thousand students.
