The Blinn College Board of Trustees have approved a one-year contract extension for Dr. Mary Hensley, District President/CEO.

Hensley’s original three-year contract has been extended, and will now run through June 30, 2019.

In May 2015, Hensley was named the 15th president and first female president in Blinn’s 132-year history.

In a statement from the board, board president David Sommer, said:  Hensley received a very favorable review, exceeding the College’s expectations in numerous ways, including her work with strengthening Blinn’s partnership with Texas A&M at the new RELLIS Campus and her commitment to overall student success and educational values.

In addition to her duties as District President/CEO, Hensley is a graduate of the 2016 Washington County Leadership Program, serves on the Baylor Scott & White Hospital board, is a member of the Literacy Texas coalition and serves on the Brazos Valley Workforce Development Board.

  1. Dr. Hensley has performed well, but two suggestions. One is to continue with a smaller Blinn College on the west side of Bryan built with all the money saved by going with TAMU. The people on that side of town do not always feel welcome on the east side of Bryan. The new Blinn on the west was going to be a big opportunity for their children. The Rellis campus is a long commute for their children. Keep going just at a smaller pace,
The second is that the choices in promoting and/or hiring some of the new staff looks as though bad advice was given and taken. Many of the higher administration have hidden agendas. Of course, all in my opinion.
