BLINN FOUNDATION TO PRESENT ‘BALDKNOBBERS’ AT BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL

A legendary show from Branson, Mo., is coming to Brenham as the Blinn College Foundation presents “Baldknobbers Jamboree” Dec. 14 at Brenham High School.

The family-friendly show blends country music and side-splitting comedy as it rings in the holidays with the second and third generations of the Mabe family, who have been entertaining audiences for 55 years. The Baldknobbers became Branson’s first show in 1959 and family members of the original cast have kept the show going all these years.

"We work extremely hard to make this a family Christmas event from the Baldknobbers family to yours," said Tim Mabe, producer and comedian Droopy Drawers, Jr. "Our song selection ranges from traditional Christmas carols to the fun songs of the season, so that there is something for everyone. Then, when you add the comedy of Stub Meadows and Hargus Marcel, we have a great holiday show for the entire family!"

The Foundation supports programs and activities that enhance the quality of education for Blinn College students and expand the educational opportunities for the entire community. While raising funds is an important function, the Foundation also seeks to heighten community awareness of the mission and accomplishments of the College and to promote excellence in education.

“One of the main goals of the Foundation is to be engaged and visible in the community,” said Dr. Kyle Merten, director of alumni relations. “Most people travel to Branson to see this entertaining show. Having the Baldknobbers visit Brenham will save people from around the area a trip to Branson.”

Since its inception in 2000, the Foundation has raised more than $13 million for Blinn. Those funds have been used to help launch major construction projects across Blinn’s campuses, including the A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center, the J. Hal and Allyne Machat Music Facility, the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex and the Bert and Mae Dean Wheeler Residence Hall.

An additional $1 million has been spent purchasing classroom equipment and supplies requested by Blinn faculty.

Tickets start at $20 and can be found online at www.blinn.edu/foundation or by calling 979-830-4495 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
