All Tiffaney Dale Hunter needed to find success was earn an associate degree from Blinn College, a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and refuse to accept no for an answer.

After successfully founding and running a Dallas and Houston-based public relations and marketing company for nearly 10 years, Hunter was recently honored with the University of North Texas Distinguished Young Alumni Award, which recognizes alumni under the age of 40 for distinguished career achievement.

Hunter’s success was led by a journey of overcoming many challenges and obstacles. Upon graduating high school and choosing to go out on her own, she simultaneously worked two jobs at fast food restaurants to pay for college.

“I faced many obstacles that ranged from getting approved for college housing to financial aid,” Hunter said. “I was determined to pursue my dream of furthering my education, so when I faced a wall, I simply climbed it or went around it. I refused to be stopped from obtaining my dream and the desires of my heart.”

Once at Blinn, Hunter began writing for the school newspaper, the Blinn Log, which helped cultivate her passion for journalism and creativity. It was not long before she discovered that public relations and marketing were the perfect fit for her innate talents.

“When I graduated from Blinn, I became the first person in my immediate family to earn a college degree,” Hunter said. “My mom, dad and entire family were so extremely proud. I immediately earned a certain level of respect amongst my family and peers that I really value and treasure. “

Hunter went on to attend the University of North Texas, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing. After graduating, she started her our own marketing and public relations company, Tiffaney Dale Public Relations. The company represents clients in an array of industries including nonprofit, retail, restaurant, healthcare and construction. After nearly 10 years, Hunter decided to step away from the day-to-day operations to serve as chief communications officer for the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation. In this role, she spearheads marketing and communications strategies geared around the organization’s mission of improving lives through the power of literacy.

“As I grow, my interests and professional aspirations evolve, so I plan to always push the limits and break glass ceilings to create my own unique journey,” said Hunter. “My hope is that my life will always inspire others to reach their fullest potential by never settling for the status quo and by always pursuing their passions and dreams.”  Story and photo courtesy of Blinn College.
