Blinn will offer two specialty welding courses this month, including CPWI+V Transmission and Distribution Feb. 5-9 and CHTI Hydrostatic Test Inspection Feb. 12-13. CPWI+V Transmission and Distribution is an advanced specialty course for inspection of transmission and distribution lines in the oil and gas industry, and CHTI Hydrostatic Test Inspection is a two-day course taught at the National Welding Inspection School in Burton. This highly specialized welding inspection course teaches students to use a variety of tools to check welds and pipelines. To view the course enrollment requirements, visit www.nationalwelding.com.

Blinn will offer four industrial safety course sessions in February, including Industrial Safety Training – Construction Thursday, Feb. 15, and Feb. 19-20; Basic Safety and Health Feb. 5-6; Industrial Skills Boot Camp Feb. 5- March 8; and Forklift Operation Certificate course Monday, Feb. 12.

A one-day electrical license renewal course will be offered on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

In addition, Blinn will offer three health profession courses, including a one-day Red Cross CPR/First Aid course on Friday, Feb. 16.  The course provides hands-on skills training to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies, and to provide care for victims of sudden cardiac arrest through the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

On Saturday, Feb. 10, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Blinn will offer a certified medication aide refresher course. The course includes specific training and review in the preparation and administration of medications, documentation, licensing standards, the safeguarding of medications, common drug reactions and side effects, and updated and new medications available on the market. Students who successfully complete the course will receive an updated certified medication aide permit from the state.

Blinn will offer a Certified Nurse Aide course beginning Monday, Feb. 5. Certified nurse aides (CNAs) provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, including feeding, bathing, grooming, changing linens, and transporting patients. Nurse aides are often employed in nursing care facilities, where they frequently serve as principal caregivers.

In addition, Blinn will offer two business skills courses – Leadership and Management – Delegation Feb. 5-March 7 and Fundamentals of Management Feb. 12-April 25.

Leadership and Management-Delegation is a leadership development course with a focus on delegation and Fundamentals of Management teaches critical fundamentals of leadership, including time management, personnel management, and internal and external motivation.

Blinn’s technical and community education courses are designed to provide students the knowledge and abilities they need to enter the workforce immediately after successful completion. Many of these courses do not require a high school diploma and enrollment is fast and easy. As most of these courses are non-credit, students do not need to go through the College’s admission process to enroll. Programs vary in length and are offered with daytime, evening, and weekend options.

Prospective students can register by visiting the Hodde Center, located at 2910 S. Blue Bell Road in Brenham, during regular business hours. As part of Blinn’s Division of Technical & Community Education, its staff works in cooperation with local businesses to provide a well-trained workforce that strengthens the local economy.

Business owners can enroll their employees in Hodde Center courses using Texas Workforce Commission Skills Development and Skills for Small Business funds, and Hodde Center staff can help businesses complete the request form.
