BLINN INDUCTS 10 STUDENTS INTO NURSING HONOR SOCIETY

The Blinn College-Bryan campus chapter of Alpha Delta Nu inducted 10 students Tuesday at the College’s Health Science Center campus.

Alpha Delta Nu is the official honor society of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN), the leading advocate agency dedicated to enhancing the quality of associate degree nursing education, strengthening the professional role of associate degree nurses and promoting the future of associate degree nurses in the midst of healthcare changes.

Blinn’s Beta Sigma chapter is the second Alpha Delta Nu chapter to incorporate in Texas. Members must carry at least a 3.0 grade-point average (GPA) and sponsor one community educational or recruitment project.

AlphaDeltaNuSpring2016Inductees include: Carina Aguilar (Bryan), Lindsey Berry (Bryan), Bayleigh Biddle (Normangee), Beth Coursey (San Antonio), Camari Crawford (Falls City), Payton Grisham (College Station), Amanda Heth (Katy), Jamie Higgins (Spring), Shannon Williams (Bryan) and Amy Winstead (Franklin).

“Alpha Delta Nu provided us an incredible opportunity to explore our community, network with healthcare providers and really connect with other nurses,” said Coursey, Alpha Delta Nu Spring 2016 president. “It is such an honor to be included in this amazing group of future nurses and to be recognized for our academic achievements.”

This semester’s inductees conducted a survey of employees at three local nursing homes, asking employees about their work environment and exploring the issues of employee morale and workload. The students then shared that feedback and their recommendations with nursing home administrators.

“These young ladies worked very hard and invested a lot of time and energy into their capstone project,” said Ellyse Lamont, faculty advisor. “I am very proud of them and congratulate each and every one on a well-deserved honor.”

Blinn’s Division of Health Sciences offers associate degree nursing, dental hygiene, emergency medical services, fire science, health information technology, physical therapist assistant, radiologic technology, veterinary technology and vocational nursing programs designed to train students for high-demand professions.
