BLINN INTRODUCES FOUR NEW INDUSTRY SAFETY COURSES

Blinn College’s Division of Workforce Education is offering four new courses that will keep oilfield, electrical and other workers safe on the job site.

Blinn is now accepting registration for its Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10- and 30-hour courses, its Safeland PEC oilfield safety training and Arc Flash electrical safety training.

“Safe and healthy working conditions do not occur by chance,” said Rod Thomas, director of workforce and corporate partnerships. “They are the result of meaningful training, diligent work and careful attention to company policies. These training programs will provide your employees the quality safety training they deserve.”

The OSHA program provides a variety of training on general industry safety, and includes hazard identification, avoidance control and prevention, along with a presentation of applicable OSHA standards.

The 10-hour general safety training is a two-day, $90 course and is available Feb. 16-17, March 26-27, April 27-28 and May 21-22 in Bryan and March 2-3 and May 18-19 in Schulenburg.

The 10-hour construction safety training is a two-day, $90 course available March 5-6 in Bryan.

The Safeland PEC oilfield safety training is the standard safety orientation for the oil and gas industry and prepares students to operate safely at both onshore and offshore facilities. Upon completion each student is issued a photo ID with a unique barcode and their information is stored in an online database at www.peccard.com.
