BLINN INVITES STUDENTS TO APPLY FOR 2016-17 SCHOLARSHIPS

  

More than $900,000 in scholarships available to qualifying Blinn students

Blinn College invites students to apply for more than $900,000 in scholarships for the upcoming academic year.

Students can apply for almost 200 Blinn scholarships by completing the application at www.blinn.edu/finaid/scholar.html by 5 p.m. Thursday, March 31.

This year, funds from at least 177 endowed scholarships are available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, academic standing and experiences. Though some scholarships are restricted to students who fit specific criteria, if a student who exemplifies those requirements does not apply, the scholarship may be offered to a wider range of students. Students are considered based on high academic achievement, participation in student activities and community involvement.

Students can also fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Institutions will begin processing information from the FAFSA in March and April.

“When students file for aid and apply for scholarships early, they significantly increase their chances of receiving funds,” said Brent Williford, dean of Financial Aid & Scholarships. “Not only is it important for students to fill out the FAFSA, but to follow up and make certain they aren’t missing any information.”

Students who have applied for admission to Blinn College will be notified through MyBlinn when their aid processing has begun and can find updates throughout the process at www.blinn.edu/finaid/index.html.
