The budget picture looks very good for the Blinn Board of Trustees. The board had a preliminary look at the Budget at last (Tuesday) night’s meeting.
Blinn Finance Officer Kelli Shomaker told the board that the college expects to spend $93.9 million, leaving a $4.4 million surplus.
She added the budget is just preliminary.
The surplus is an estimated figure based on expenditures coming in under budget and enrollment continuing to grow at the Bryan campus.
Shomaker reported further that the spring and summer alone , the campus has seen a 10.6 percent increased in enrollment.
To accommodate the growth, board members were given an update on the construction of two 6000 square foot portable buildings, that will provde for 11 more classrooms.
