BLINN NAMES DEAN OF AGRICULTURE & NATURAL SCIENCES
Dr. Elmer Godeny brings 30 years of higher education experience

Blinn College has named a veteran educator with 30 years’ experience its new Dean of Agricultural & Natural Sciences.
Dr. Elmer Godeny, who comes to Blinn from Atlantic Cape Community College in New Jersey, where he served as Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Programs, will begin his duties in August.
“Blinn College is delighted to name Dr. Elmer Godeny its new Dean of Agricultural & Natural Sciences,” said Dr. Mary Hensley, District President/CEO. “His student-focused approach to science education and engaging management style make him a welcome addition to the Blinn College family.”
Godeny served as Associate Dean of Science and Mathematics at Tulsa Community College, and taught biology at the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, Baton Rouge Community College, and the Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Veterinary Medicine. He holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He has authored numerous articles for peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented on his specialty, virology, at both national and international seminars.
Godeny’s experience includes developing the veterinary technology program at Baton Rouge Community College, overseeing the veterinary technology program at Tulsa Community College, and conducting research projects at LSU’s deer farm. While at Atlantic Cape, Godeny oversaw a program in which students learned to use drones to monitor crops, collect data and identify diseases and crop interruptions.
“Engaging students and removing barriers to student success has long been a major focus of mine,” Godeny said.
Blinn’s Division of Agricultural & Natural Sciences is home to a broad array of academic programs, including agriculture, anthropology, biology, chemistry, ecology, geology, nutrition, physics and therapeutics manufacturing.
