BLINN NURSING STUDENTS DEMONSTRATE PROPER CAR SEAT SAFETY

Blinn College nursing students recently teamed with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to demonstrate proper car seat installation for Brenham families.

Parents that attended the event at the Brenham Wal-Mart were asked the height and weight of their children, which was then used to correctly install the car seat. Statistics show eight of 10 car seats are installed incorrectly.

“This is an opportunity for Blinn to give back to the community to make sure children are safe and secure inside a vehicle,” Michelle Marburger, director of the Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) Program.

The car seat safety check-up was just one way in which Blinn’s LVN Program gives back to the community. LVN students also volunteered this year at the Blinn College Health Fair, Baylor Scott & White Senior Day and assisted with traumatic brain injury group at Camp For All.

Blinn’s Division of Health Sciences offers associate degree nursing, dental hygiene, emergency medical services, physical therapist assistant, radiologic technology, fire science, therapeutics manufacturing, veterinary technology and vocational nursing programs designed to quickly train students for high-demand professions.
