BLINN PRESIDENTIAL FINALIST PUBLIC FORUMS CONTINUE

Blinn College began the first of its public forums with their Presidential finalists this morning.  Faculty and the public listened to Dr. Richard Shrubb, former President of Minnesota West Community and Technical College this morning at the Blinn Student Center in Brenham.  After he introduced himself and described his background, Dr. Shrubb fielded questions from the audience and questions sent in from the other Blinn campuses.  He describes what attracted him to Blinn:

This afternoon, Dr. Maureen Murphy, President of Brookdale Community College in New Jersey and previously President of San Jacinto College South, spoke at the Blinn Brenham campus.  She was asked to give her thoughts on House Bill 1903, filed in this session by State Representative John Raney that would require Blinn to allocate funds to each campus based on contact hours.

The public forums continue Tuesday with Dr. Sylvia McMullen, current President of the Blinn Bryan campus.  She will answer questions at the Blinn Brenham Student center at 10:05 in the morning.  In the afternoon, Dr. Mary Hensley, currently Executive Vice President at Austin Community College, will answer questions at 3:05pm.  Each of the four finalists are answering questions on both the Bryan and Brenham campuses with a video conference available to all four of the Blinn campuses.
