BLINN RECOGNIZES OVER 2000 STUDENTS FOR EXCELLENCE

More than 2000 Blinn College students earned academic honors during the fall semester.

Blinn named 844 students to its elite president’s scholar’s list, while 1221 were named as dean scholars.

To be named a President’s scholar, students  must earn a 3.75 grade point average while taking at least 12credit hours and passing all their courses. Students must attain a 3.25 GPA to earn the dean’s list recognition.

Blinn President Dr. Harold Nolte says ‘it’s a privilege for us to recognize these students for their hard work and commitment to their future.’  President Nolte went on to say:  “The values they have demonstrated this Fall will serve them well as the transfer to elite four year schools and embark on exciting career opportunities.”

The College had record enrollment in the fall with a total of 18,413 student.  Enrollment at Blinn has jumped by 31 percent in the past seven years.

Blinn’s academic transfer rate is the highest in the state and 21 percent higher than the state average.

The College was also named one of the top community colleges in the state by Schools.com for its positive impact on the Texas economy, and AffordableCollegesOnline.org recently listed Blinn among the most affordable large community colleges in the nation.
