BLINN RECOGNIZES SPRING HONOR STUDENTS

  

More than 1,900 Blinn College students earned academic honors during the Spring 2017 semester, the College announced today.

Blinn named 841 students to the prestigious President’s Scholars List, including 463 who completed the semester with a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA). An additional 1,076 students earned placement on the Deans Scholars List.

To be named a President’s Scholar, students must earn a 3.75 GPA, complete at least 12 credit hours (excluding developmental courses), and pass all their courses. To earn Dean’s Scholar recognition, students must attain a 3.25 GPA, complete at least 12 credit hours (excluding developmental courses), and pass all their courses.

“It is a privilege for us to recognize these students for their incredible achievement,” said Dr. Mary Hensley, District President/CEO. “Their hard work and commitment to the future will serve them well as they transfer to elite four-year universities and embark on exciting career opportunities.”

According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), Blinn’s academic transfer rate of 34.2 percent ranks second in the state and far exceeds the statewide average of 21.1 percent.
