The course covers all the basics of the desktop accounting software

The Blinn College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is hosting a basic QuickBooks course Monday, Dec. 11, to teach small business owners to get the most out of their desktop accounting software.

The course will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour off for lunch, and is specifically designed to provide hands-on experience for QuickBooks desktop version users. The course is designed for those with no experience or limited experience using the QuickBooks software.

Topics include setting up your records, invoices, deposits and checks, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, and running reports. Each attendee will have a desktop computer to use during the course and be provided reference materials to keep. The course will not teach the online version of QuickBooks.

The workshop will be held at the A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center located at 2910 S. Blue Bell Road. Registration is $100 per person and is available at www.blinn.edu/sbdc. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required by Friday, Dec. 8.

The class will be taught by Julie Gilmer, CPA and certified QuickBooks Pro advisor.
