BLINN SEEKS DONORS FOR VOLLEYBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RINGS

The Blinn College Foundation is seeking donors to help purchase rings for the NJCAA Division I champion Blinn College volleyball team.

Last month, the Buccaneers won their second consecutive national championship and their third in four years. The team finished with a 40-1 record, winning the Region XIV Conference South Zone and Region XIV Tournament championships along the way.

The volleyball program has won four of Blinn’s 30 NJCAA national championships, capturing the title in 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2014. The team has posted 16 consecutive winning seasons, including 12 straight seasons with seven or fewer losses and two undefeated regular seasons.2014 BUC VB NATIONAL CHAMPS

The Foundation seeks to raise $6,250 to purchase 25 rings, which would be presented to the players during a banquet honoring the team’s accomplishment in January.

The Foundation supports programs and activities that enhance the quality of education for Blinn College students and expand the educational opportunities for the entire community. While raising funds is an important function, the Foundation also seeks to heighten community awareness of the mission and accomplishments of the College and to promote excellence in education.

Since its inception in 2000, the Foundation has raised more than $13 million for Blinn. Those funds have been used to help launch major construction projects across Blinn’s campuses, including the A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center, the J. Hal and Allyne Machat Music Facility, the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex and the Bert and Mae Dean Wheeler Residence Hall.

An additional $1 million has been spent purchasing classroom equipment and supplies requested by Blinn faculty.

To assist in purchasing championship rings for the players or to learn more about the Foundation’s mission, visit www.blinn.edu/foundation or call 979-830-4017.
