BLINN STUDENTS EARN ACADEMIC DISTINCTION

More than 1,800 Blinn College students were recognized for their Spring 2015 academic success, the College announced today.

Blinn named 764 students to its elite President’s Scholars List and 1,082 students to its Dean’s Scholars Lists. To be named a president’s scholar, students must earn a 3.75 GPA while taking at least 12 credit hours and passing all their courses. Students must attain a 3.25 GPA to earn dean’s scholar recognition.

The list of honorees is available at www.blinn.edu/honors.html.

“It is an honor for us to recognize these students for their hard work and achievement,” said Dr. Ana M. “Cha” Guzmán, interim district president. “The values they demonstrated this Spring will serve them well as they transfer to elite four-year universities and embark on exciting career opportunities.”

In February, Blinn announced its largest Spring class in College history with an enrollment of 17,554 students. Blinn enrolled a school-record 19,317 students last Fall and has experienced 37.5 percent growth since 2006.

Students taking 30 credit hours at Blinn in 2015-16 will save almost $3,500 in tuition and fees compared to the average Texas public university (40.2 percent), and Blinn offers more than 220 endowed scholarships. Additionally, Blinn’s academic transfer rate regularly ranks among the highest in the state and nation and is approximately 20 percent higher than the state average.
