BLINN TO HOST YOUNG PIANIST COMPETITION

  

Blinn College is inviting the state’s most talented young piano players to its 14th annual Young Pianist Competition.blinnpiano-1.30.16

The competition is this morning (Saturday) and will feature musicians from 5-12 grade that have memorized two pieces of music of different styles.

Pianists from four age groups can win a $300 top prize or a $150 as the runner-up. Piano scholarships will also be offered to talented high school juniors and seniors.

Prizes were donated by Dr. Henry and Teddy Boehm and Larry and Mary Whigham.

This year’s guest judges are Courtney Crappel and Timothy Hester from the University of Houston and Ilonka Rus-Edery from Sam Houston State University.

The competition will begin this morning (Saturday) at 9am in the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center and is open to the community. Finalists from each age group will perform at 3pm.
