BLINN WINS NATIONAL CHEER AND DANCE TITLES–AGAIN

The Blinn College cheer and dance teams have each captured their fouth-consecutive national titles at the NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championships.

Blinn cheer won its fourth consecutive national championship in Small Coed Division II with a score of 94.7 over second-place University of Central Oklahoma (93.5) and third-place McKendree University (91.82). Cheer overcame an injury in preliminaries for its fourth consecutive title.

“This cheer family is a group of fighters that were not going to let any adversity effect their goal of bringing home a fourth consecutive national championship,” said Michael Brewster, assistant dance and cheer coach. “As their coach, I couldn’t be more proud of the effort they gave.”

The Blinn dance team earned its second consecutive national championship in Pom Division II with a score of 9.463 over second-place McLennan Community College (9.357) and third-place Tarleton State University (8.897).

“It was harder this year because the competition doubled the number of teams, but it made it more challenging and rewarding,” said Sarah Flisowski, spirit coordinator.

The Treasures narrowly missed out on two national titles in the same year, as dance finished second with a score of 9.105 to Shobi (Japan) University Veritas (9.125) in the Dance Team Performance III Division.
