BLINN WORKSHOPS WILL CERTIFY WELDING INSTRUCTORS IN NCCER STANDARDS

Blinn College will certify dual credit instructors in national welding credentialing requirements during a one-day course at the A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center.

The course will be offered Tuesday, May 24, and Wednesday, June 1, and will empower dual credit instructors to certify high school students according to National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) standards. NCCER is the national standard for welding certification, and its registry allows organizations and companies to track the qualifications of their craft professionals and check the qualifications of potential new hires.

The course is $75, including meals and materials, and takes place from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Instruction will focus on the 10 NCCER modules necessary to qualify instructors to teach NCCER. Conference participants will become NCCER credentialed, obtain continuing education hours and be certified to certify high school students participating in Blinn’s dual credit welding program.

Only NCCER-credentialed instructors are qualified to teach dual credit welding at Blinn, helping school districts meet House Bill 5 requirements that career and technical education students receive state and national certificates and credentials.
