BLINN’S HODDE CENTER HOSTING WORKFORCE COURSES

  

Blinn College’s A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center is hosting a variety of workforce and career courses that start in March.

On Wednesday, March 2, Blinn will offer an eight-hour CPR/first aid Red Cross course. The $110 class begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. in the Hodde Center computer lab.

A one-day, $50 medication aide refresher course takes place from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, and includes specific training and review in the preparation and administration of medications, documentation, licensing standards, the safeguarding of medications, common drug reactions and side effects and updated and new medications available on the market. Students who successfully complete the course receive an updated certified medication aide permit from the state.

Beginning welding class runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, March 21 through May 25.

Basic Safety and Health is a two-day industrial safety course that runs from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. March 24-25. Cost of the class is $90.

The eight-hour Safeland PEC oilfield safety training on Monday, March 28, is an eight-hour safety orientation for the oil and gas industry. This $150 course prepares students to operate safely at both onshore and offshore facilities.

A 90-hour phlebotomy technician course will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning March 29. The classroom portion of the course is $670 and the clinical portion is $280. Prior to enrolling in a phlebotomy class, students must attend an information session.

Students can register at the Hodde Center and may pay for classes by check, cash or credit.
