BLINN’S HODDE CENTER OFFERING SUMMER COMPUTER COURSES

  

Blinn College’s A.W. Hodde, Jr. Technical Education Center is offering local job seekers a variety of computer courses that teach everything from computer basics to the finer points of Microsoft Office.

Classes begin as early as Monday, June 8, with new courses beginning every few weeks.  Prospective students can register by visiting the Hodde Center, located at 2910 S. Blue Bell Road in Brenham, during regular business hours.

“These courses provide students the computer skills needed to be a better job candidate or to improve current job performance,” said Megan Costanza, dean of Workforce Education.

Introduction to Computers covers the very basics, from turning on a computer to finding the keys, and is a great class for anyone interested in learning the computer for work or home.  Introduction to Word Processing teaches the fundamentals of using Microsoft Word and helps students become comfortable creating documents and typing letters.

Introduction to Spreadsheets, Spreadsheet Tips and Tricks and the one-day Spreadsheet Boot Camps (basic and intermediate I and II) teach students to use Microsoft Excel, the most commonly-used spreadsheet program in the nation. These classes in particular make any employee – from administrators to warehouse clerks to managers – more efficient.

Small business owners can enroll their employees in Hodde Center courses for free using Texas Workforce Commission Skills for Small Business Funds, and Hodde Center staff can help businesses complete the request form.
