BLINN’S WILLIAMS AND ROCHELL NAMED ALL-REGION

Ke’Asia Williams named all-region and all-conference

Blinn College freshman forwards Ke’Asia Williams (Bryan) and Jade Rochelle (Grandview) each earned Region XIV honors for the 2016-17 women’s basketball season.

Ke'Asia Williams

Williams was named all-region and all-conference after leading the Buccaneers in scoring with 13.2 points per game. She ranked second on the team with 8.3 rebounds per game. Williams is coming off a redshirt year following a knee injury. She scored a season-high 22 points on two different occasions.

“Coming off an injury and playing the way Ke’Asia did after taking a year off was huge,” said Jeff Jenkins, head coach. “She is competitive out on the court and plays each play with energy.”

Jade Rochelle

Rochelle earned honorable mention in a season in which she ranked second on the team in scoring with 10.1 points per game and led the team with 8.9 rebounds per game. Rochelle scored a season-high 24 points and hauled in nine rebounds in an 80-62 loss to Tyler Junior College on March 4.

“Jade played her best basketball at the end of the year and started finding her shot,” Jenkins said. “We rarely got outrebounded with Ke’Asia and Jade on the floor.”

Blinn finished the season with a 19-12 overall record and a 12-8 mark in Region XIV play. The Buccaneers lost to Tyler 66-48 in the Region XIV quarterfinals.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 34 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
