BLUE BELL AQUATIC CENTER’S LEISURE POOL NOW OPENING JUNE 13

The Blue Bell Aquatic Center’s Leisure Pool is scheduled to open sooner than initially expected.

The outdoor Leisure Pool is now set to open Wednesday, June 13.

The City’s construction contractor expedited necessary work and completed that work ahead of schedule.

Aquatic Center staff are currently working to balance chemicals in the pool, and will need to allow the plaster to cure and properly set.

  1. I still think someone should be terminated, or suspended without pay for this FIASCO. It’s going to be mid-June before our pool opens. You had one job and you blew it!!

    1. I’d like to point out the story says it’s opening SOONER than expected.

      I’d also like to point out everything could’ve been done and done correctly and this still happen. We’ve had several years of severe drought and/or heavy rains. The effect on the land does also affect anything buried. I’ve personally walked in the land around the BBAC and easements by Blue Bell – there have been cracks deep enough to fall in during drought.

      Fiasco is an exaggeration – that title goes to the restrooms at Fireman’s Park, and no, no one should be terminated or suspended for it. This holds especially true when the company that fixed this did it right and on (actually ahead) of schedule. As I said above too, it could’ve been done right and we still have it closed for another reason beyond control.

      What SHOULD be done is the city start looking at QUALITY over price. So far they’re 0-2 recently choosing cheapest construction price than quality.

      Just look how fast the restrooms are being put up at FP as case in point. If they’d only chosen slightly higher local Thielemann construction they’d been done now.
