BLUE BELL TOPS AUGUST BUILDING PERMIT LIST

  

Construction is up in Brenham according to the building permit numbers released for the month of August.  Building permits totaled over 2.5 million dollars last month compared to 405 thousand dollars a year ago.  Topping the list was a permit to Blue Bell Creameries for a truck and trailer parking lot and fueling pad for 1.2 million dollars.

There were eleven new housing starts inside the city in August, eight of those in the new Ralston Creek subdivision.  Several businesses received permits for new signage, including Chili’s restaurant and Super 8 motel.  The Washington County Health Center located in the old police station on Chappell Hill Street received a permit to install a $20 thousand electronic sign.

So far this year, 255 permits have been issued for a total of 19.4 million dollars.  That compares to 185 permits for 27.8 million dollars during the same period in 2013.
