BLUE RIBBONS TIED TO OAK TREE ON COURTHOUSE LAWN

Today (Wednesday) was the day to tie a blue ribbon on a live oak tree on the lawn of the Washington County Courthouse in honor of the victims of child abuse in the county last year.

Chris Haynes of Scotty’s House, notes that April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and members of her group along with the area Court Appointed Special Advocates were tying 69 ribbons on the tree to remember the 69 victims of child abuse in the county last year.

Brenham Police officers and Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies joined the Scotty’s House and CASA For Kids volunteers to tie the ribbons in front of the courthouse.

Julie Overstreet of CASA for Kids says this was one of at least ten events in the area to support the victims of child abuse and to raise awareness of the problem.
