BLUEBONNET COOP SAYS EXPECT HIGHER TEMPS TO INCREASE BILLS

A spate of above-normal temperatures in June and July has resulted in increased energy consumption for Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s members, which means higher electric bills.

The forecast calls for even hotter temperatures through July and August.

Matt Bentke, Bluebonnet’s general manager says weather is a direct factor in how much electricity residential members use.  Bentke says officials, “…constantly monitor how much energy members are using. All it takes is a few days with triple-digit temperatures to increase the amount of energy used in homes. That drives up electric bills.”

Bentke says Bluebonnet’s members can see how weather affects their electric bill by setting up an online account and studying their Energy Tracking Tool on www.bluebonnet.coop and the co-op’s mobile app. Members can use the portal to see how much energy they are using down to the hour, how much it has cost and what their bill is projected to be at the end of their billing cycle.

Those who don’t have an online account can set one up.
