BLUEBONNET ELECTRIC OUTAGE UPDATE

At 5:15 a.m., Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative reported 525 separate outages affecting 3,238 members. The outages are widespread across our 3,800-square mile territory. We had 12 crews working overnight, who made good progress. Most of the large outages we had in central and eastern Washington County have been restored. We have a few large outages still remaining in Washington and Burleson counties. Once the flood waters receded and we were able to assess damage yesterday, we found flooding caused more structural damage to our poles and powerlines than we anticipated, which slowed progress in some areas. However, the majority of damage to our electric grid was caused by lightning, particularly to insulators and fuses.

At 7 a.m. today, we will have more than 55 crews and about 250 employees and contractors working to restore power. With those resources in the field working as quickly and safely as possible today, we expect to make great progress. We will continue to keep our members informed through Facebook and Twitter. For the most current information on outages, go to our outage viewer at bluebonnet.coop.

  1. We have been without power since Thursday, the night the storms came through our area. I know we are not the only ones effected, but my wife and I are taking care of our 4 grand boys that range from 11 years to 8 months old and the 11 year old has asthma. We have been sleeping with the windows open and taking cold showers. My wife has MS and we need some relief pretty soon.

    1. Pat and Suzanne,
I just got my power turned on. I’ve got a generator and a portable air conditioner that you can borrow. As for hot water, best thing I can offer is a bunch of water hose laid out in the sun today. It will be scorching hot in no time.

Not sure how to get ahold of you, but if you would like to borrow those things maybe KWHI can email your number to me.

  2. Thank you so much Bluebonnet for your hard work in getting power restored to those of us who lost it!!!

  3. These guys are amazing. They have always given us the very best of service. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication to your customers. We appreciate all that you do.

    1. Bluebonnet has been in our area all day and we now have power! There were fallen trees on lines and equipment damaged by lightening. Not an easy fix. Thanks again for all of the hard work!
