BOIL WATER NOTICE FOR CHAPPELL HILL

"The Chappell Hill Water Supply Corporation that serves the community of Chappell Hill began experiencing a water outage this evening (July 25, 2015). The water system is experiencing a combination of an electrical failure and possible major water leak which has disrupted water service. "A BOIL WATER NOTICE" is issued and in effect until further notice for the Chappell Hill Water Supply Corporation that serves the City of Chappell Hill. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires the system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption. To ensure the destruction of harmful bacterial and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some suitable source. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, water system officials will notify you through this same media."

  1. How far reaching is the boil water restriction. Does it include Brenham. Noticed Brenham and Lee county had these problems. What is going on

  2. So…I’m a little uninformed on how this works. Has something happened to compromised the water table?? I’m using my own well. This should still be safe, yes?
    Thanks

    1. Yes, your well should be safe. This is for people who are on the community water system called Chappell Hill Water Supply Corporation. Sounds like they had a power failure and a major leak that has let contaminates into the system.
