Board President Douglas Borchardt, along with Board of Trustee member Carolyn Miller, and Interim President Dr. Ana Guzman took turns addressing the House Committee on Higher Education on Wednesday night in Austin.

He and the rest of the Board members were speaking on state Representative John Raney’s House Bill 1903, a bill that would directly affect funding of school based on contact hours.

Borchardt said during the meeting that these bills could cause significant damage to the school if signed into law, and that he considered them to be an "overreach of state government" that takes away local control.

House Bill 1903 was the last bill to be heard, and tells of the rundown of the day, and thanked all that participated.

The bill now goes to the Higher Education Committee, waiting for the next step in the process.
