During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence showing that on October 21, 2012, Watson and two other men went to the home of Trevor Williams in order to purchase marijuana.  After arriving, Watson instead decided to rob Williams. Watson entered Williams’ apartment with a gun and shot him in the head at close range. Prosecutors offered testimony that moments after the shooting, Watson admitted to a friend that he killed someone.

During the punishment phase, prosecutors revealed that Watson is a member of the “Bloods” criminal street gang.  Brazos County Prosecutors also provided evidence of Watson’s criminal history for the jury. At the time of the murder, Watson was on probation for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.  In 2005, Watson was placed on Juvenile probation in Austin County for Aggravated Assault in connection with a beating of a high school class-mate.
