BRENHAM 4TH GRADER SPENDS DAY AS ‘HONORARY TECH DEPARTMENT ADVISOR’

  

Jesus Gatica spent today as an honorary Tech Department Student Advisor for Brenham ISD. While it’s an honor anyone would be proud of, the designation is especially meaningful for Jesus- given he’s only 11-years-old.

Jesus, a self-proclaimed technology enthusiast, is a 4th grader at Brenham Elementary.

Among his accolades, he has been personally invited to tour the Google campus in Austin. He was recognized last month during the Brenham School Board meeting and even has his own website, completely designed and operated by himself.

Jesus says his mission is to learn about technology and help others, something he was able to live out today as he shadowed Instructional Technology Specialist, Tom Spall.

Jesus began his day with a tour of the BISD Tech Department, meeting with Director of Technology, Kim Stauss, and the BISDwired Technicians. He then spent the morning working with the ITS Team, even teaching a Google Draw lesson at Krause Elementary School.

"We are so proud of Jesus" said Brenham Superintendent Walter Jackson. "His love for technology is quite evident in everything that he does."

"I applaud the instructional technology department for recognizing Jesus and his passion for learning" continued Jackson. "The members of the IT department have taken Jesus under their wing, and mentored him in ways that I believe has been a positive life-altering experience. This is just one more logical reason why we all choose BISD to educate our students; our educators aggressively work to maximize the potential of every child, everyday."
