BRENHAM ANIMAL SHELTER FILLING UP

Brenham Animal Services is asking for the public’s help.

A post on the Service’s Facebook page states that the Brenham Shelter is at 97-percent capacity.

The post reads that the shelter is, “97% capacity with dogs and puppies.”

There is “one kennel left and still have some dogs to move from holding.”

Shelter officials are urging the public to adopt the dogs.

The Brenham Pet Adoption Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1804 Longwood Drive.

For more information, call the shelter at (979) 337-7351.

  1. What’s going on at the Animal Shelter? This is the second time I’ve read negative comments!!!.

  2. If this is true what they are implying about no more room for these poor animals then move some back to the old shelter until the problem gets solved. Doesn’t the city still own that building? I’m sure there’s another official that’s not doing anything and would say some fuel with the extra funds maybe offer a lower adoption cost to the public.
Whenever there’s a tragedy it seems like it’s just an excuse to use the public for help…
So if no Harvy would these animals be in danger or our streets not be so damaged and not safe to drive? Where’s the guy that would give all the insides to the local stories and issues in Brenham? Did he finally step on the wrong persons toes or get terminated for voicing his personal opinions? Well back to the real story here… it doesn’t matter what day or time if you truly wanted to adopt a animal you would make time! It only takes 5/10 minutes to go look if there’s anything that’s in your interest and make some easy arrangements to pick up later. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to make time for what’s important in each of our lives so quit blaming the hours and days so inconvenient for your so busy schedule! Blah, Blah, Blah

    1. Sounds like somebody doesn’t have a job…For those of us who work during those hours we’d much rather get paid because without money we can’t afford a pet. Having a pet isn’t important…but if the city wants to see the animals get adopted then they would make it easier on the customer by be available at the right times. If McDonalds sold burgers for a nickel between the hours of 3am-4am do you think people would wake up in the middle of the night to go get a dozen of them? NO, OF COURSE NOT! That would not be convenient and some people think sleep is more important. People need to understand how to pander to the general public if they truly want to sell/adopt/get rid of something. I could bring up silly examples all day but I’ll just leave it at that.

    1. Agreed. Who has time to go adopt a pet in the middle of the week? They should close Monday and be opened Saturday. As someone who lives a bit out of town it is impossible to make it in during the week if you have job during the day.

      1. With all the churches in the area, it seems like it shouldn’t be too hard to open up Sunday afternoon as well, and persuade church leaders to support the shelter.
