  1. More administrative bloat. A bandaid on a gaping wound called BISD. Director of Communications, is really someone paid to speak to an outraged public about the BISD follies, so the other “administrators” won’t be bothered with direct questions. Protection as it were, expensive protection, with taxpayers footing the bill. It will not change until voters change the school board, like seasoned teachers, retired military officers, successful small business persons whose families have not been here for 5 generations. It’s up to you citizens and voters, you can have a great school system. Oh, and following state directives on reducing graduation requirements ( thanks Austin) will NOT get it done.

    1. Congratulations, Brenham ISD, for moving in the right direction! The Director of Communications will be a good addition to keep the public informed and showcase all the great things happening in the district that the public would otherwise not know about. More importantly, it will provide transparency for taxpayers who may think they know all about the district but don’t. Dr. Jackson truly is making Brenham ISD the district to choose!

      1. We all support Brenham ISD, but a Director of Communications is a complete waste of taxpayer money. Brenham has exactly two media outlets of any concern, the local paper, and KWHI and it’s associated radio station. Do we really need a director of communications to talk with those two media outlets and possibly do some things on social media? The concept of a position like this providing transparency is ridiculous. This person will be a paid mouth piece whose job is it is to make the administration look good, if anything these position normally make government less transparent.

How about spending this money on something like finding ways to improve the completely broken disciplinary systems and support our teachers with a real raise instead of the “mid-point” increases which are deceiving. We need less bloated central office staff and better support for the teachers on campus.

        1. Good golly, the things you don’t understand. Love the fact the BISD is getting a Director of Communications!!!!! Someone that will tell OUR story. A person that has real interest in the stories of our students, teachers, staff members, and admin. A person that will let others outside our town know about the Excellent students, curriculum, instruction, leadership, teachers, staff, technology, etc… that we have here in Brenham ISD.

If you truly supported Brenham ISD, you wouldn’t be bashing it on KWHI. And yes, we do need a Communications Director to communicate with our local media outlets. Our own community needs to hear about the great things teachers are doing in Brenham ISD, and now we’ll have someone in our district capable of doing that responsibly and effectively.

Thank you to all the excellent teachers and staff that support our district and students. Thank you to our fantastic Board, as they have done an OUTSTANDING job over the past year and a half with our new Super. Dr. Jackson is turning this district around, and we should be supporting his great decisions! Glad we are getting some new positions and leaders to better our district and lead us into a positive future!

-A Proud Brenham ISD Staff Member!

          1. I ask sorry to tell you but you really do not need your own taxpayer paid story teller to present a shined up and polished version of what is happening in our schools. How about letting the schools actually do their job and letting the results speak for themselves. A communication director does nothing improve education for our students, it is simply mor administrative bloat. That money could have contribute toward additional classroom teachers or supplies that are badly needed. How about spending that money on ways that’s actually make a real improvement in discipline so that they chaos our kids face everyday is less. If you want your story told do you job, educate students at the highest level possible, and your story will speak for itself.
