BRENHAM CELEBRATES THE ARRIVAL OF CHRISTMAS
Over 40 entries made their way through downtown Brenham Friday night to celebrate the season, in the 2014 Brenham Downtown Lighted Parade.
Participants from Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts to local churches and businesses to the Brenham Cub marching band helped welcome in the season.
The parade entries all led up to the arrival of Santa Claus, aboard a Brenham Fire Department ladder truck.
Santa then greeted hundreds of children after the parade outside the Washington County Courthouse.
The parade winners were:
Best Overall – Brenham Vet Hospital/Pet Resort with honorable mention given to True Blue Animal Rescue
Best Parade Theme – Brenham COP/CPAAA with honorable mention given to Grace Community Fellowship
Most Original – Germania Insurance with honorable mention given to Brenham School of Dance
Best Lights – First Baptist Church School with honorable mention given to Kolkhorst Petroleum
Best Spirit of the Season – St. Paul’s CDS
There were also dozens of other activities following the parade for those visiting downtown.
Skating on a synthetic rink continues today at the corner of Alamo and Douglas, across from Must be Heaven from 10 am-to-5 pm.
