BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS TRANSPORTATION ISSUES

Brenham City Manager Terry Roberts says once the Chappell Hill extension project is done the city will have about $900,000 left over for other transportation and mobility projects.

When they council meets Thursday they will discuss possible uses for the money.  Roberts says the council is considering four or five projects, ranging from work on Academy and Martin Luther King Boulevard  to further work on Stone Street to adding some lanes of traffic to avoid further congestion.

The Chappell Hill extension would connect Chappell Hill to South Market and then to Stringer Street.  That would connect the streets to the overpass at highway 290.   The further extension would then connect Chappell Hill Street to Stone Street.

The City Council will go into executive session to further discuss the land city once had permitted for a landfill in between Brenham and Chappell Hill. Roberts says after marketing the land for several months with Hodde Realty, they have an offer to consider.

The City Council meets Thursday at one at city hall.
