BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS ZONING MAP

Brenham City Council will consider an amendment and act upon a resolution during their meeting Thursday to change a section of land from single family residential use to a commercial/retail use in order to build retail space. This land is being bound by Rucker Street, North Park Street, West Blue Bell Road, and Ewing Street. Council will also consider an amendment and act upon an ordinance on its first reading to change the zoning district from a single family residential use to a local business/residential mixed use for land located at the Southeast Intersection of Ewing and Rucker Streets.

The Council will hear two noise variance requests. One being from Annie Mae Sharp for the Graves Family Reunion on April 16th from 10:30am to 11:00pm. The second request being from the Brenham Maifest Association for the 2016 Maifest Events being held on April 30th, May 5th, May 6th, and May 7th.

Also being discussed will be amending the investment policy for the city, an addendum to the online auction memo of understanding between the City and GovDeals Inc., the first reading amending the water conservation plan for the city, and a quote from SHI Government Solutions for the renewal of the Microsoft Enterprise agreement between the City and Microsoft Corporation.

A bid related to concrete work for the Old Mill Creek lot development project is expected to be approved as well as a grant application submission request for 2016 Homeland Security Grant Funds.

The City Council will also recognize promotions within the Fire Department; Brian Scheffer – Assistant Fire Chief and Brett Schroeder – Captain.

The Brenham City Council will meet at 10:00am on Thursday in the second floor council chambers at City Hall located on west Vulcan Street.

  1. In my continued research of Brenham Zoning and the 2020 Envision Plan there have been more zoning changes in the past year than in the past ten years. I realize that the 2020 Envision Plan basically is what the Planning Manager Envisions. A better Envision on Old Millcreek Rd. would have been to spend the $150,000 in this budget on widening the road and not creating a busier road with no plans of widening this heavily travelled road, that will only continue to get busier. A Government without credible forethought is the worst thing for
    taxpayers.
