BRENHAM COMMUNITY CHANNELS PULLED BY SUDDENLINK

Update: As of Thursday morning, the Community channels 95 and 96 have returned to Suddenlink Cable.

Cable television subscribers in Brenham have lost their community channels on Suddenlink Cable.

Anyone tuning to channels 95 and 96 in Brenham to watch the community channel and listen to the audio of KWHI 1280 are greeted with a black screen and no audio.  Carol Picard, local Plant Manager for Suddenlink, says she was ordered by upper management to remove the two community channels from the Brenham system.  Picard says the equipment for those channels is old, and upper management did not want to spend the money to replace it.  A community channel or local information channel has been a fixture on Brenham’s cable TV system since it was built in the 1970’s.   Pickard says the local Suddenlink office realizes 95 and 96 are popular channels because they have received numerous phone calls since they went dark.  Unfortunately, she says her hands are tied by upper management.

KWHI, which has been the audio on the local channel since its inception, has a contract with Suddenlink.  KWHI management has been in contact with Suddenlink in an effort to restore at least one of the two community channels to the Brenham system.
