BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT

On Thursday, November 13 around 6:24pm, the Brenham Fire Department was dispatched for a mutual aid request from Chappell Hill VFD to a Grass Fire at 8701 WHIDDON RD, in Chappell Hill.

Chappell Hill responders had the fire controlled with hand tools and needed BFD ATV1 to extinguish the remaining brush pile that was burning and wet down the fire perimeter. Due to recent rains in the area, the larger fire trucks could not be used.

Early on Friday morning around 12:25am, the Brenham Fire Department was dispatched to a car fire located in the HEB parking lot at 2508 S. Day Street.

A 2003 Chevrolet Blazer engine compartment was on fire.

Brenham PD Officer Schoen arrived before BFD units and extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher from HEB.

BFD units arrived and cooled the engine compartment with water and disconnected the battery.

Fire Marshal Finke determined the fire started in the air intake and was caused by a fuel system malfunction/ engine backfire.

The engine compartment was heavily damaged by the fire and the owner requested the vehicle to be towed.
