At 2:20 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, the Brenham Fire Department was called to 825 Farmers Road for a reported grass fire. When they arrived, they found a small area of grass and a round bale of hay on fire. The department extinguished the fire and found the cause of it was an unattended burn pile.

Approximately an hour and a half later, the BFD responded with the Gay Hill Fire Department to 201 FM 390 W for another reported grass fire. When both departments arrived, they found a half acre of grass on fire. The departments extinguished the fire, and determined the cause of it was another unattended burn pile.

Then just past 4 p.m., the Brenham Fire Department and Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Department received a call about a grass fire at 3500 Old Gay Hill Road. The Brenham Fire Department was still extinguishing the fire on FM 390, so Gay Hill VFD responded to the location and found a small fire on the side of the road. It was extinguished and the cause of the fire was undetermined.
