BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT INJURED DURING WORKOUT

  

A Brenham High School student is recovering at a Bryan hospital after a freak accident while weightlifting.

According to Assistant Athletic Director Tim Oehrlein, Dalton Dunfield, a junior on the Brenham Cubs football team, was injured during an off-season workout Friday afternoon.

Dunfield suffered a severe back injury and underwent surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan where he is recovering.

Dalton is the son of Deanna and Jason Schultz  of Brenham and Lloyd Dunfield of Georgia.

  1. These young athletes need better assistance and coaching in the weight room on technique. The form of weightlifting is extremely important when lifting any weight at all. Safety of always first and foremost when in and around the weight room.

    1. The coaches do a great nob at teaching technique and how to properly weight train. My guess is that you have never been in that setting so you wouldnt know that. Mr experiened lifter. Your not the only one that knows how to properly weight train sir. Accidents do happen you know!!!!

  2. Not really a freak accident if the exercise performed is inherently dangerous and has caused injuries before.
