BRENHAM ISD BOARD TO DISCUSS CONSOLIDATING POSITIONS
The Brenham School board will discuss a possible move to consolidate some positions when they meet in a special meeting tonight (Wednesday).
While the specific positions have not been revealed, the agenda for the meeting includes a recommendation by Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson to enact a reduction in force in specific positions.
According to Jackson, a mid-semester retirement could mean the consolidation of some positions and responsibilities, which Jackson says would results in a slight reorganization and would save tax-payer dollars.
Also at Wednesday’s meeting, the board is expected to fully a grant application to Bluebonnet Electric by the Brenham Cub Baseball team for a metal roof over the batting cages on the High School campus. The Baseball Alumni Association would provide the necessary 10% matching funds.
The board will also hear a report on the Federal Report Card for Texas Public Schools and vote on the 2016-17 instructional calendar.
The board will also go into executive session for the Superintendent’s Evaluation, as well as a discussion on the contract for Dr. Walter Jackson.
At the start of the meeting, the board will recognize the “You Make a Difference” award recipients, the winners of the Washington County Spelling Bee, and the All-State Band students.
The Brenham School Board will meet next Wednesday instead of the customary Monday, due to the Presidents’ Day holiday and a scheduling conflict Tuesday.
The meeting begins this evening (Wednesday) at 6:00 p.m. in the Brenham High School Library.
