BRENHAM LOOKING TO EXPAND ITS BORDERS

The city of Brenham could be getting larger soon, as the City Council continues to look at several tracts of land that could be annexed into the city.

The areas are near the cloverleaf on highway 290, an area on Blue Bell Road out to Tiaden and a stretch of land off highway 36 from the city limits out to Anderson Lane.

City Manager Terry Roberts says these tracts are adjacent to the current city limits and it would be easy to extend city utilities and other services to them.  He says the Council will go into workshop session before they hold a public hearing on the annexations.

Roberts says the annexations will not mean a significant increase in population.   The Thursday public hearings will be the first, with subsequent hearings in the next few weeks.

The City Council will also have a workshop session on updates on the city charter.

The Brenham City Council meets Thursday at one at city hall.
