BRENHAM MAN ARESTED IN MURDER CASE

A Washington County woman is dead after she was shot at a home north of Brenham, Monday.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office 36-year old Rachelle Nowak had been shot several times at a home in the 8700 block of FM 50.  A witness said the suspect left the scene in a vehicle and was headed north.

Nowak was transported in critical condition to Scott & White Hospital in Brenham, and was later pronounced dead.

Just moments after authorities responded to the call, Sheriff’s Investigator Mark Whiddon spotted the suspect’s vehicle travelling north on FM 50.

43-year old Anthony Wayne Burns of Brenham was apprehended and is in custody, charged with murder.  He remains in the Washington County Jail

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

  1. Isn’t it curious how people get so upset about dogs that attack someone on their own property and no one comments on a man who shoots a woman in the back and flees the scene. I guess you can get used to anything if you see it enough.
