BRENHAM MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING AN OFFICER

  

A Brenham man is behind bars on several charges, including assaulting a police officer.

63-year old Van Nang Do was arrested after an apparent auto accident Tuesday afternoon.

Around 3:00 p.m., officers responded to the 2700 block of Market St., near Tractor Supply, in reference to a fight.  While responding Dispatch also advised an accident had also occurred.

Cpl. Richard Bobbitt attempted to intervene and Do allegedly swung a wrench at him. Bobbitt was eventually able to detain Do, who was later treated at the emergency room for facial injuries, then transferred to the Washington County jail.

During the investigation, police say it appeared that Do also caused the accident.  Authorities say he apparently intentionally rammed two different vehicles.

Do is charged with two counts of Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; and, aggravated assault against a public servant.

The investigation continues.
